The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a booklet and a short film titled Exam Stress-A Natural Feeling... Lets Learn To Deal With It to help students beat exam-related stress.
The film, which runs for 9.35 minutes, starts with shots showing how people with stress and then features a couple of students talking about exam-related stress and how to overcome it.
Students can relieve stress by activities such as simple exercises and speaking to friends, according to the board and the producers of the film.
The Board has also published a 72-page booklet on exam-related stress and measures that can be taken to control it. The booklet says that a student has to plan purposefully and proceed positively.
“Doing away with examinations is not a solution to end such tension. Competition is a part of life and cannot be eliminated,” the booklet says.
“Although our immediate interest is the formal examinations we encounter in everyday academic and professional life, let us not overlook that in due course everyone realises that living honourably is also an examination,” the booklet says.
S. Shyam, a Class X student of a private CBSE school in the city, said that CBSE had already taken steps to eliminate stressful schooling and examinations.
“I think the booklet will be of much use to us so that we can practice the methods that have been detailed in the book to relieve us of stress,” he said.
Shyamala, teacher in a private CBSE school, endorsed Shyam’s view and said that not only students but others also can practice the methods detailed in the booklet as today stress is the buzzword among all youngsters.
