Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the more than century old Patna College, Patna under Patna University would be developed as a centre of excellance.
Addressing a function on the 150th foundation of Patna College, Patna, Chief Minister said the state government would provide whatever funds would be required for developing the college as a centre of excellance.
Kumar announced that a century building would be constructed on the campus of Patna College and it would be ensured that there would be additional accommodation for students for taking examinations.
Besides, the hostels of the college would be renovated and steps would be taken for maintenance of the historic building of the Patna College for which the state government would make available Rs 2 crore to the college authorities during this financial year for development.
The Chief Minister also advocated holding of fair elections to the students union, associations and federations of the university.
Kumar recalled that Patna College was founded on January 9, 1863 with the effort of only five students.
The Chief Minister appealed to the students to give respect to teachers and also laid stress on massive plantation for protection of environment.
