Institute of Leadership Entrepreneurship & Development (iLEAD), in its first year of inception, is organising and hosting a student exchange programme. It has tied up with The Gymnasium Osterholz-Scharmbeck from Lower Saxony, Germany, the Tennessee State University, Nashville, United States of America and the Yunnan University from China.
They have one student from Germany, Florian Walters from Gymnasium Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Lower Saxony, who came to iLEAD on November 10. He was training at Max Mueller Bhavan under Sir Qasim to learn the English language better.
He was undergoing this traineeship in order to start teaching. He is a student who will be teaching German to iLEAD students and at the same time he is learning the English language better along with being an active participant in the iLEAD renowned Soft Skills Workshop.
He was very inspired by iLEAD teachers as he feels that the teachers in India as compared to Germany are more inclined in individual development of each student and not just teaching. He will be in Kolkata till mid March.
“I am very grateful to Pradip Chopra for giving me this opportunity. The Soft Skills Workshop is something I have never experienced before in Germany. In Germany our learning is very textual and we aren’t taught anything as to how to be in the outside world or to be confident,” he shared.
One such other student from the US from the Tennessee State University, Nashville – Brandon K Norton joined iLEAD on December 15 for a month. He will be participating in the real estate course as he was already working in a real estate firm in US and wants to understand what the real estate scenario in India is like.
He will also be visiting various sites and will be taught the various aspects of real estate in Kolkata. He will be doing the Soft Skills Workshop at iLEAD too.
Eight students from China along with two faculty members from the Yunnan University visited iLEAD for the Soft Skills Programme from the December 23 to 30, 2011. ILEAD is developing a course on ‘Teaching English’ along with soft skills training for Chinese students and professionals in China.
Similarly, three students from iLEAD will also be sent abroad during the summers. One student will be going to China, while the others will be going to Germany.
Pradip Chopra, chairman of iLEAD said, “The biggest advantage of hosting the student exchange programme is that the students from the foreign country get an exposure about India and the Indian ways of doing business along with the Indian educational system. Likewise, students from India get an exposure to go to foreign countries and experience foreign educational systems without incurring large expenses.”
