Outdoor games essential for growing children: Modi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that sports and outdoor games are essential for a healthy growth of young ones.

"With the advancement of computer and animation technology, our children are getting more and more involved in the play-game activities through mouse and browser," Modi wrote, in a letter to Gujarat State Kabaddi Association (GSKA).
 
Modi said that the games, which could contribute for children's strong physique and mind, needed to be encouraged, "as the sweating of young bodies is very much essential for growing children".
 
GSKA had organised the 38th Junior National Kabaddi Championship 2011, which concluded at the BRG Group-run Gujarat Public School grounds at Kalali here last night.
 
Modi conveyed his wishes to the 28 boys' teams and 27 girls' teams that participated in the tournament from different parts of the country.
 
Janardan Singh Gehlot, president of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India thanked Bakulesh Gupta, chairman of BRG Group were present at the prize distribution ceremony, Naranbhai Patel, chairman Vadodara Urban Development Authority, Lattaben Gupta, a well known social worker and Gehlot gave away prizes to the winning teams.
 
In the boys  final, Uttar Pradesh beat Tamil Nadu by 18-13 to clinch the title, while in the Girls section Delhi beat Punjab 37-24.
 
Vice president of Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi Association Mohmed Yusuf said that each player of the winning team of Uttar Pradesh would get Rs 30,000 for the win, as per policy of the UP government
