MP medical admission scam: Guilty students to face action

In the backdrop of a probe revealing that several medical students in the state had gained admissions by fraudulent means, the Madhya Pradesh government today said all such students would be asked to quit their courses.

A government probe committee headed by the State Joint Director of Medical Education, in a report submitted last month, stated that over hundred students had passed their pre-medical tests (PMT) by hiring others to write the examinations for them.

Minister of State for Medical Education Mahendra Hardia admitted the racket under which students got through PMT by asking others to appear for them in the exam had been going on for over five years.

"Even the students who have spent some years in medical colleges (after gaining entry using fraudulent means) would be asked to leave," he added.

As per the report, 26 such cases had occurred in Bhopal, 36 in Gwalior, eight in Indore, 21 in Sagar, 15 in Jabalpur and eight in Rewa district.

After the committee gave its report, the medical education department lodged complaints with the police, which registered FIRs against 56 students. The admissions of 50 other students were suspended by their colleges.

However, no action has been taken so far against the imposters, who sat in the PMT examinations.
