With an idea to get students' response to the newly introduced Samacheer kalvi syllabus, the state common board of school educaion is all set to take a closer look as soon as the schools reopen in January.
Feedback on students' performance, along with teachers inputs would help the board to analyse the impact in the change in syllabus.
According to a notification in Novermber, the state common board of schools was empowered as the academic authority that would look into matters like syllabus, curriculum and text books. Earlier, the directorate of teachers' education research and training was the academic authority.
Director of school education, P. Mani heads the board with 3 academic experts and one member each from the Matriculation, Anglo Indian and Oriental streams.
Immediate tasks of the board is to approve text books being printed currently with portions specific to each term, work out modalities for the smooth implementation of continuous comprehensive evaluation system for classes 1 to 8th from next academic year and supervise academic issues regarding to the implementation of RTE act.
