Language and communication skill development has assumed lot of significance at the school level these days. With increasing emphasis on the overall skill-set, the schools are adopting a variety of programmes to prepare their students for future challenges.
By starting platforms like English Clubs, the schools plan to draw the attention of the kids to the importance of skills in addition to their regular studies.
At the Narayana Olympiad School, Nellore, they are involving all the students in the activities of the English Club.
Besides regular skill-based activities like “Just A Minute”, the school is also inviting resource persons to deliver talks and organise workshops for the English Club members.
In the words of Anwitha, a Std IX student, the skill development activities have created a lot of confidence in them so as to talk freely and express ideas.
National Best Teacher awardee Y. Srinivasa Rao, a resource person in communication skills, delivered a talk to the club members.
Explaining the objective of the English Club, School principal G. Shiva Kumar said classes from Std VI to X were being involved in the activities.
