Jagadishchandra Gohil (50), who has been pursuing a degree in engineering for the last 28 years, is distraught at MU’s decision to not give students more than eight years to finish the course. Gohil claims his father’s loss of vision and multiple surgeries, besides a decline in his own health, forced him to take such a long time to complete the course. He is still resolute about completing the course and getting a degree.
Gohil, who has only two papers left to clear now, was shocked when he was asked to leave the examination hall during the exam. “Varsity officials told me I can’t write the exam. I had a hall ticket for the fifth semester paper. It was an arbitrary decision taken by the university, without any warnings whatsoever,” said Gohil. He has been appearing for the exam as an ex-student, he claimed.
