The state government has constituted a panel under its chief secretary for charting out the course of action after irregularities were found during education census conducted a few months ago.
School education minister Rajendra Darda announced the decision on Thursday. “A five-member panel will go through all the reports and recommend action to be taken by the school education department within two months. Principal secretaries of departments related to school education willbeon the panel,” Darda said. Replying to doubts raised by members on the mammoth exercise, Darda said the census was conducted after receiving complaints and he was determined to take the issue to its logical end. “There were claims that the governmentschoolswere notup to the mark. But the census revealed that schools coming under zilla parishads have 94% attendance along with adequate number of students, teachers and infrastructure. In fact, many private schools were found wanting in these aspects,” he pointed out.
Responding to another query by MLC Suresh Navle regarding private school managements forcing their employees and teachers to participate in the poll campaigning, the school education minister said the government would come up with stringent measurestostop such practices.
