All Inclusive Education

The Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP) recently presented their concert Ritur Khela – Seasons Play to a packed Rabindra Sadan auditorium. Anjika and Jugnu partnered the concert.

The event started off with the chief guest, Alokananda Roy speaking about the importance of communication between one another, emphasising that “thoughts and ideas should always be shared for harmony” and it should be no different when it comes to anybody who is suffering from any sort of physical challenge.

Ritur Khela is a play by the children and members of IICP. Subhra Chatterjee, deputy director of Communications & Resource Mobilisation (IICP) said, “The play had already once been done before in July at our institute, this event is for the spreading of our message inclusive education.”

When asked about IICP’s endeavours on inclusive education, she said, “With a show like this, we are trying to tell the world that our children for that matter every child in the world, with any sort of disability is no different from the ones fully blessed and hence they deserve equal opportunities.”

Students from The Heritage, Loreto Sealdah and members of various NGO’s were present, this was an arrangement made by IICP for the purpose of spreading the word.

Priti Patel has directed the dance. She has a group called Anjika, which is a centre of Manipuri dance. Along with professional dancers, Anjika also has students and members who have certain disabilities.

The play, Ritur Khela chronicled the changing seasons with the back drop being the environment and the effects of pollution. The play involved many children doing various sorts of acts making the watch a fascinating experience. It was followed by an entertaining performance from Anjika’s gifted dancers
