IIT-M launched a Technical English book

As part of its golden jubilee, IIT-M on Monday launched Technical English, a unique book designed to teach and test communication skills of students in science as well as humanities disciplines.

'The book is designed to help both science and humanities students to understand technical words in 9the right perspective,' said Dr S. Devaki Reddy who coauthored the book with Dr Shreesh Choudhary. Both Dr Reddy and Dr Choudhary belong to the department of humanities and social sciences in IIT-Madras. 'The insights gained from over a decade of teaching English helped us identify students' problems in communication and offer solutions,' said Dr Reddy.

The book was released by Dr Anil Kakodkar, chairman, Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). He also released 12 other books on various science and engineering disciplines and an international journal being published by IIT-M.
