The district education department has sought details from schools about the number of students of belongings to BPL families. The district superintendent of education (DSE), Bokaro, Banke Bihari, said they have sent letters to the schools asking their management to provide the figures.
He said it has been made mandatory by the government for every school to take admission of the wards of BPL card holders, which should be 25 per cent of its total seat capacity. Preference should be given to deprived candidates residing within a radius of 2 km of the school.
