CFA Institute (Chartered Financial Analyst), the association of investment professionals, promoting the practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts in association with the Indian Association of Investment Professionals (IAIP), launched the ‘CFA Institute Research Challenge’.
The four zonal teams participating in the India National Final of the competition to be held on December 13, who have emerged as winners after a gruelling competition amongst 32 leading business schools of the country, will present their equity research on the subject company to a panel of judges composed of experienced industry practitioners.
The competition is supported by three premier organisations including National Stock Exchange (NSE), Bloomberg, and Bloomberg UTV as sponsors. The participating teams The Institute for Financial Management and Research Chennai (South Zone), Indian Institute of Management Shillong (East Zone), Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay (West Zone) and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Delhi (North Zone).
The panel of judges includes Sunil Singhania, CFA head and president of IAIP; Ratnesh Kumar, managing director and head, Standard Chartered Securities India; Alan Meder, CFA, SVP and chief risk officer, Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co and vice chair, CFA Institute Board of Governors and Ramesh Damani, seasoned investor.
The two teams that emerge as winners from amongst these four teams would represent India in the Asia Pacific Regional Final to be held in Hong Kong on March 2, 2012. They will compete against teams from Beijing, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Melbourne, New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Shanghai, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sydney, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.
The India National Final will be followed by a one hour panel discussion on ‘Investment Outlook for Indian Equities’ amongst the investment management practitioners and experts.
The national final round would take place on December 13, 2011; the event would start from 4:15 pm. It would be held at Bloomberg office, 16/F, Tower 2B, One Indiabulls Centre, Lower Parel, Mumbai.
