"We don't need no education, We don't need no thought control." The wave Pink Floyd created years ago found resonance in a discussion about the flawed education system of the country on Thursday.
On the sidelines of the release of a book -- Integrated Learning -- written by Ken Gnanakan and published by the Oxford University Press, stakeholders in the field of education raised their concerns about the current pattern.
"I am worried about the quality of teachers in primary sections of schools. What exposure do they have? If you talk to a teacher on how to adopt a new method, the immediate reply you get is 'it's not possible in our system'. We need them to have an open mind and usher in changes," said Parth Sarwate, director at the Indus Training and Research Institute.
