Show-cause notice to 9 schools for functioning on Muharram: JK govt

Jammu and Kashmir government forcibly closed nine schools, which had defied its directive to declare holiday on the occasion of Muharram, and issued them show-cause notices.

The Chief Education Officer, Jammu, Natha Ram Dingra conducted a surprise check under the direct supervision of Directorate of School Education, Jammu, to check the ground reality regarding functioning of private schools during holidays and found that some schools are violating the directions of the higher authority, an official spokesman said here.
 
The schools checked on declared gazetted holiday on account of Muharram include K. C. International Public School, K C Gurukul Public School, S R Public Higher Secondary School, SP Higher Secondary School, Shangrilla Higher Secondary School, Dreamland Public School, Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School, Sainik Colony, Shiksha Bhawan Hr. Sec. School, Krishna Public High School, Bakshi Nagar, Shiksha Niketan Model Academy and New Era Environment High School.
 
The CEO directed the schools' management to close down their schools failing which their cases would be recommended to the higher authorities for de-recognition, he said.
 
The show cause notice were also served to the management of New Era Environmental High School, K C International and K.C. Gurukul for violation of government orders/instructions for not closing their school, he said.
