South City International School, Kolkata played host to the Limca Book of Records, Kolkata quiz finals. Packed with a crowd of 400 hundred students from 97 schools quizmaster Derek O Brien rolled out three rounds of the quiz.
Executives witnessed the battle of the brains from the Coca Cola Company and an enthralling bunch of students cheering their respective schools all the way. Also present at the event was Dolly Jain who holds the Limca Book of Record for draping sari in 125 different styles.
Leaving behind 97 schools DPS Ruby Park, Apeejay Park Street, Birla High School, Lamartiniere for Boys, Modern High School for Girls and National Gems Higher Secondary School qualified as the top 6 schools reaching the city final.
The quizmaster steered the different levels with questions from general awareness to the latest buzz in town along with audio visual clips. The entire content, research and the quiz software has been contributed by Know and Grow with Derek.
Each level eliminated a school leaving behind the first three positions. DPS Ruby Park emerged as the winning team with Apeejay Park Street and Birla High School securing the second and third positions respectively.
The winning team was felicitated by Ahmet Bozer, the president of Eurasia and Africa Group, Coca Cola. The final round will be hosted in the national capital in December.
On the lines of Mahatma Gandhi, Ahmet C Bozer said, We have to take power from the roots but at the same time be open to the world. This quiz competition projects the intellectual power and capacity of the young Indians who defines a small part of the incredible intellect of India.
