XLRI homecoming holds special significance owing to overwhelming response the institute gets year after year with over 150 alumni participating in the event last year.
This year, the registration for participating in the event went past the 200 mark. A large number of alumni came along with their spouses and family to participate in this year’s event.
The prominent participants for the year included H M Nerurkar, MD, Tata Steel; Steve Correa, founder & CEO, Steve Correa & Associates; Avik Chattopadhyay, vice president, PSA Peugeot Citroen India; Ravi Kumar Aleti, assoc. director, Cognizant Technology Solutions.
Other big names were Balaji Venkateshwar, managing director, Local Konnect Consultancy Pvt Ltd; P S Jayakumar, CEO and co founder, Value Budget Housing Corporation Ltd; Arunabha Roy, senior consultant, IBM India Pvt Ltd; Vinamra Agarwal, director, Technical Associates Ltd.
Also present were Chand Narayan, director, Value Inc Solutions Pvt Ltd.; Amarnath Jha, director, Spectrum Energy Pvt Ltd; Avinash ladha, president, TDT Copper LTD, Naveen Kumar, managing director, Factor Consultants; Nishant Bhalotia, director, Jalan Carbons & Chemicals Limited; Sumanta Kumar De, head – chocolate, Olam.
Ajay Tripathi, director – HR, Dell; Swaraj Thampi, senior vice president, Citigroup; Bushen Raina, chairman, JUSCO; Rana Sinha, MD, Telcon, Pradeep Srivastava, MD, Indian Steel & Wire Ltd, and Dr Nesakumar Joseph, vice president (Operations), Deaconess Foundation (USA) also graced the occasion.
The two day program was aimed at helping the students, staff and faculty to interact and network with the alumni. Various events were organised during these two days with joy and fun to achieve the same.
The events included formal welcoming ceremony, presentations by the students to the alumni, panel discussion led by the alumni, the vision sharing by the director, band performances both by the alumni and students and community lunch and games.
In addition to these the nukkad natak and drama performed by the students reflected the XLRI value systems. The rock and country folk music by the students and alumni in the JLT made the evening informal and highly interactive.
A significant inclusion on the first day of the event was JRD Tata Ethics Oration, followed by the Alumni Awards Ceremony. Four alumni members received the prestigious awards.
