Convocation evolve effective platform

In order to effectively deal with the challenges that the Universities and institutions faced, there was urgent need to evolve effective platforms and mechanism that promote and cultivate creativity and innovation, Dr H A Ranganath, Director, National Assesement and Accreditation Council (NAAC) said.

However, in the present state of unrest and confusion, the real challenge was who will promote this quality culture, Ranganath said in his address to the 27th Convocation of the Bharathiar Unviersity here.

As of now the country has around 600 Universities and 30,000 colleges, Ranganath said.

Shanghai Jiao Tong Unviersity topped 500 and Top Asian Universities.

"It is imperative to note that quality have not been in consonance with expansion. There is a dire need to introspect where we have gone wrong and unless quality issue are addressed there can be no scope for improvement," he said.
