The Tamil Nadu government is taking serious efforts bring facilities in public libraries on par with that of private educational institution's, Governor Dr K Rosaiah said here.
There is a gap between public libraries and private educational institutions, which have tremendous facilities and volume of books, he told reporters on the sidelines of inauguration of Venkataram Learning Centre at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology here.
The government is doing it's best to take public libraries upto these levels, he said.
S Malarvizhi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee of the college said the Rs 12 crore facility spread over 55,000 square feet, has 51,330 volumes of books, in all engineering branches and management.
About 4,000 students of the college can benefit from this learnng centre, which has E-Learning facility and more than 300 International and National periodicals and journals, she said, adding the Centre also has the facility for coaching IAS and IPS examinations.
