Three leading institutions, Asian Fluid Machinery Committee, Fluid Power Society of India and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras have come together to organise an International Conference on Fluid Machinery and Exhibition on Emerging Challenges in Fluid Power Technology at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras from Nov. 21 - 23, 2011.
The 11th AICFM Conference, is a continuation of the preceding ten conferences that have been held in various cities in the Asian continent and this is the first time it is being hosted in India.
The conference is being inaugurated by Dr. Sivakumar, Director, CVRDE, Chennai and will be presided by Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthy, Director, IIT Madras, who will also inaugurate the exhibition. Prof. YoshinobuTsujimoto, Osaka University, Japan and Chairman of the Asian Fluid Power Committee will be releasing the conference proceedings.
At the conference, keynote lectures are delivered by renowned fluid machinery and fluid power specialists to introduce the recent developments and advance in relevant areas. Eminent Personalities from India and abroad will deliver invited lectures to highlight the recent advances made in the specialized field of Fluid Machinery, Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power. A large number of academicians from institutes, scientists from R&D organizations, and engineers and technologists from industries will present, discuss and disseminate their scientific work, during the technical sessions.
In a time when fluid Machinery and fluid Power have witnessed dramatic advances and considerable sophistication, over the years there has been a marked change in the product concept as well as on product technology.
The harbinger of this change has been the developments in microelectronics, system integration and simulation. At the same time, the challenges facing society, in general, and industry in particular, have also multiplied; to name a few : Increasing the energy efficiency, Improving the reliability, Reducing the size of components and systems, Building "smart" components and systems, Reducing the environmental impact, Improving and applying the energy storage, recovery and redeployment capabilities and so on. Quality consciousness is prevading the entire spectrum of Fluid Machinery and Fluid Power activities, and holds the key for attaining and sustaining excellance. The Fluid Machinery and Fluid Power industry is a $100 billion industry globally. The indian market has been growing at a fast rate both in production and consumption.
This proceedings represent contributions from practicing professionals, academicians, researchers and consultants on the achievements and advancements made in various technological fronts in the thrust areas of fluid machinery and fluid power. The papers accepted for this conference after peer review are included. The exhibition showcases developments and relevant information in fluid power in the industry. It is hoped that the high quality of research work published in the proceedings of this conference and the showcasing of products and industrial developments will be useful for future research activities.
