Don't just score marks, build strong personality: Sheila to students

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today counselled students not to focus only on scoring marks but also concentrate on developing a strong personality so they could sail through various challenges in life.
 
Dikshit was speaking after conferring Indira Awards for the year 2010 to teachers, students and schools. "The future of nation is linked with future of children, hence, they are to be provided with best possible education to make their minds fertile to ideas and make them competent enough to face all challenges in their lives," Dikshit said.
 
Noting that government has been putting "sincere" efforts to improve educational infrastructure in the city in the last 12 years, she said the performance of government-run schools have improved significantly in the last few years.
 
"We are leaving no stone unturned to provide quality education to the students. School education in Delhi has become a role model for other states to follow," she said. Complimenting the education department, Dikshit said government schools have outshone public schools in Delhi in respect of results and overall growth of students.

"We are proud of our dedicated teachers and officers who have been able to accomplish a silent revolution which has ensured an appreciable change in education and has also opened new doors of opportunities for the students", Dikshit said.
  
She presented the 'Best School Chief Minister's trophy' to to GBSSS-3, Najafgarh school. The award also carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Eleven district-level schools were presented Education Minister's trophy, which carries cash prize of Rs 50,000 each. Twenty two schools were also presented awards for better performances. The award carries Rs 21,000 each. 54 differently-abled students were also awarded by the Chief Minister.
 
Students who topped in various among schools in various zones in 10th and 12th classes were also given awards.
