Govt not to interfere in internal matters of school: Shahi

The Bihar government sought to allay the apprehension of the private schools about its likely interference in their affairs post-registration and said that it "has no intention to do so."

The state government has no intention to interfere in the functioning of the private schools after their registration with it.... all it intends to do is to enforce implementation of the Right to Education Act (REA) which mandates registration of the private schools with it, Bihar HRD Minister P.K. Shahi told reporters here.

Reaching out to about 25,000 private schools planning to launch two-day state-wide bandh from tomorrow to protest a state government order asking them to register with it or face action, he said that the private schools will have full freedom to run their institutions in the manner that they want even after registration with the government.

The state government did not want to discriminate against private schools nor it has any pre-conceived bias against them, the HRD Minister said and urged the agitating private schools to abide by the central legislation which mandates registration with the local government.

With November 12 being the deadline for registration by the private schools, Shahi said that the concerns of the private schools will be amicably resolved soon even as many private schools have submitted documents to the HRD for registration.
