In a bid to provide and nurture better healthcare facilities in West Bengal, Park Hospitals inaugurated its first Neotia Academy of Nursing in Kolkata, recently.
Tucked far away from the noise of the city, this institute provides a serene environment with a spacious campus and lush greens. The academy itself is spread over 40,000 sq ft with well-lit classrooms and laboratories equipped with the latest technologies.
It also provides residential facilities with a large common room, dining area and is well secured providing safe and amicable environs. There is a well stocked library coupled with a recreation area.
The academy will offer 2 types of courses:-
• A Bachelor’s Degree (Bsc) in Nursing which is a 4 year course and presently has an intake capacity of 30 students. The course fee is Rs 63,000 per annum.
• There is also a Diploma in General Nursing and Mid-Wifery (GNM), a 3.5 years course and at present can accommodate 40 students. The course fee is Rs 45,000 per annum.
An additional Rs 3000 is for hostel charge.
There has been a tie-up with major hospitals and nursing homes in Kolkata to enable students to complete their training and get acquainted with the rigour of the nursing profession. The principal of the institute is Bandana Sen.
Present at the occasion was Harshvardhan Neotia, chairman, Park Hospitals along with the state’s minister of commerce and industry Partha Chatterjee and chairman of borough 12, Deepa Das Thakur.
Speaking on the occasion Chatterjee unveiled plans that the government wishes to undertake in the healthcare sector. He commended Park Hospitals for venturing into a private enterprise and for setting up a successful nursing training institution.
Neotia said, “The academy will churn out nursing professionals who are integral to providing healthcare in the society and also create dignified employment opportunities for empowering young women.”
The academy assures of placements in the various healthcare initiatives of the Park Hospitals group.
