Flaying the TUK College in Thanjavur district for flouting the order for reinstatement of two terminated teachers issued by the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, the Association of University Teachers, University Co-ordination Council (AUT-UCC), Tiruchi-Thanjavur Zones, has urged the State government to appoint a special officer for administering the college by invoking the Private College Regulation Act.
Affiliation withdrawal
The association that conducted a dharna in the city recently to highlight the issue, wanted the Bharathidasan University to withdraw affiliation, citing conduct of courses against affiliation norms and inadequacy of infrastructure.
It also wanted the government to inquire into “irregularities” and “corruption” indulged in by the university in making appointments earlier this year. N.P.M. Sathik, secretary, AUT-UCC, assailed the university also for violating the UGC norms by recognising Ph.D. degrees of deemed universities, and sought government action.
The national secretary of All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation P. Jayagandhi, and the state president of AUT K. Pandiyan addressed the demonstrating college teachers.
