Great Lakes Institute of Management, with its campuses in Chennai and Gurgaon recently launched a two year Post Graduate Diploma Program in Management (PGDM).
First of its kind in India, the program focuses on emerging economies offering a unique value proposition with Great Lakes investing about Rs. 50 crore in its Chennai campus to expand its infrastructure to accommodate this new course.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tapan Panda, Director - PGDM, Great Lakes Institute of Management said, “The program, with its emerging economy centric curriculum, will have a term structure in sync with many international B-Schools. This will facilitate student and faculty exchange, semester abroad studies and globally oriented projects thereby enriching students quality of learning and exposure.”
Dr. Srikant Datar, a professor of Harvard Business School, who was the Chief Guest at the occasion, said, “It is high time that business schools around the world re-think management education. Great Lakes is a pioneer in management education innovation and has developed a very relevant and timely program in its new PGDM.”
Set to start in July 2012, every year, the program, will have one intake and will admit 120 students.
Great Lakes is in the process of developing several strategic tie-ups with colleges and universities abroad to facilitate semester abroad programs and student/faculty exchanges.
The program, which will admit both fresh college graduates and professionals with up to 24 months work experience, will be offered with six specializations including Marketing, Finance, Operations, Strategy-OB-HR, IT & Systems and International Business.
On completion of the course, students can expect to work in companies with transnational operations that require trained and qualified talent to handle businesses in geographies within and outside India with knowledge of local nuances.
