Passing-out parade held at Combat Army Aviation School

Forty-two aviators were awarded the coveted `army aviation wings' at the passing-out parade at Combat Army Aviation Training School (CATS) at the hands of Lieutenant General Gurdeep Singh, Commandant, School of Artillery, here.
   
CATS, established in 2003, is an Army Aviation Corps institute for training the helicopter pilots for the Army.
   
The ceremony was attended by senior army officials and family members of combat aviators.
   
Captain Nishant Pandey was adjudged the overall best student of the batch and awarded `silver cheetah trophy', while Captain Shayantan Das who stood first in flying was awarded Captain S K Sharma memorial trophy.
   
Captain P K Gaur memorial trophy was awarded to Captain Rahul Nisal in `direction of artillery fire'. Captain Atul Maggo and Major Adheesh Srivastav were also awarded trophies for ground subjects and pre-army pilots course respectively.
   
The ceremony also had a fly-past by the mainstay aircraft of Army Aviation Corps Cheetah, Chetak and Dhruv (Alh).    

Talking to reporters later, Brigadier Rajiv Raina, Commandant, CATS, said the institute was going to replace Chetak and Cheetah helicopters with new, modern helicopters for training purposes.
