ITC Sonar recently hosted a cake mixing session to herald the festive season of Christmas along with children from the less privileged backgrounds, recently. The chefs of the luxury hotel along with general manager Zubin Songadwala presented this customary ritual of cake mixing along with noted movie actor and director Aparna Sen.
The students of Future Hope School were also present to grace the occasion with the cause of spreading happiness among the less fortunate. The concept of the event was to share the joy and happiness of the festive season with the less privileged.
Since Christmas is nearly two months ahead, this initiative to celebrate the custom of cake mixing was undertaken to engage the children of the school in the age old tradition of Christmas cake making.
The mix which consisted of various dry fruits like raisin, glazed cherries, orange peel, tutti frutti, black currents and dates along with nuts like cashew, almonds and spices like cardamom powder, ginger powder, nutmeg powder and clove powder will later be used for making confectionary for the festive season.
Every year at the hotel the preparation of the festive confectionary is commenced with this celebrated ritual of cake mixing. As the children enjoyed themselves thoroughly, Aparna Sen happy to be attending such a gracious event enlivened it further by giving away gifts and small tokens of appreciation to the children.
The event was indeed a preface to the introduction of the festive fervour, and its beauty was enhanced by the smiles spread across the face of the children who enjoyed this act. Aparna said, “I am happy to be present here. Merry Christmas in advance and I will be looking forward to the Christmas cake.”
