In a bid to train and provide employment to youths by the year-end as part of Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu Programme, Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development department today entered into an MoU.
The organisations with whom the MoU was signed are SETWIN (a Government of Andhra Pradesh Society), APITCO (a consultancy for small and medium enterprises), Tally Solutions, Dhatri Foundation, Society for Human Awareness and Rural Development, Ramananda Rural and Urban Development Society, APEC, Andhra Mahila Sabha and Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC).
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development department M Maheedhar Reddy said that the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) is the nodal agency for providing employment to unemployed youths living in urban slums under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu programme.
"Out of total target of 15 lakh youths, 4 lakh youths will be provided employment by MEPMA by the end of 2014-15. So far, MEPMA has trained 1.40 lakh youths and placed another 1.05 lakh under training," Reddy said.
