Thiruvananthapuram: Toonz Academy, a leading animation training institute, has tied up with the Anna University Coimbatore, it was announced today.
Toonz Academy is the training division of the Toonz Animation Studios operating from the Technopark campus here.
Under the agreement, the academy will offer certificates endorsed by Anna University to its undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students in animation and digital technology programmes.
Also, Toonz will set up an Animation Centre of Excellence (ACE), which will be recognised by the university.
It has also been agreed to introduce animation and digital technology courses as electives for the BE/B.Tech courses of the university and explore possibilities of setting up a world class film and media school under the university.
"This affiliation would serve in extending the industry endorsed academic programmes and training practices to the students across India. I am hopeful that this would serve as a platform for better industry- academia tie-ups in the future" said R. Radhakrishnan, vice-chancellor of Anna University, told reporters here.
P. Jayakumar, chief executive of Toonz group, said their mission was to provide quality education to the students across the country.
"This affiliation will propel the standards of education in the industry to a different level, and would help churn out professionals for the global animation market," said Jayakumar.
