The controversy over the proposal to set up an Aligarh Muslim University study centre in Kishanganj refuses to die as RJD questioned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's commitment to the project.
"The chief minister could have prevented the controversy over delay on the study centre by handing over land to the AMU authorities who had long back demanded that the state government should acquire land as a single tract but his government has failed to do so," the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Gulam Gaus told reporters here.
He rebutted Kumar's charge against the opposition of playing politics on the issue.
The senior RJD leader charged the NDA government with being "anti-minorities" and said the minorities were lagging behind on development fronts, including opportunities in jobs and education due to the "prejudice" of the state government apparently under pressure from BJP.
"Even educated Muslims youths, having degrees (Fazil) from seminaries for teaching assignments, have been asked to undergo mandatory training for recruitment as teachers," he said.
