The Telangana Teachers Joint Action Committee (TT-JAC) also announced its withdrawal from the 32-day general strike seeking separate Telangana state. TT-JAC co-chairman K. Venugopal said the government agreed to their demands with regard to informing the Centre about the sentiments of teachers on the Telangana issue.
The loss of 16 instructional days during the strike would be compensated by working on holidays and Sundays.
With regard to GO No. 177 the government said the matter was sub-judice and the Advocate General's opinion would be taken on the issue. The government's assurances would be applicable to all the teachers including apprentice teachers, Vidya Volunteers and non-teaching staff of government and residential schools.
