A DRDO team visited Canada recently to find out avenues of working together and conducting joint researches in the field of early warning and response network, space technologies and bioinformatics.
Led by DRDO Chief V K Saraswat, the delegation visited Canada from October 10 to 15 and held discussion with universities, institutions and industries there to explore opportunities in joint research and development.
"The DRDO team attended the Indo-Canadian Workshop on 'Frontiers in Science and Engineering 2011' at York University and held discussions with Canadian experts on technologies of common interest to both the countries," DRDO officials said here.
To take forward the plans, the two sides have agreed to prepare an outline of future course of action within a month and have decided to hold the next workshop here in 2012, they said.
"A strong research alignment and interests in the areas of Early Warning and Response Network, Advanced Materials, Space Technologies and Bioinformatics has emerged during the discussion between the two teams," they said.
During the discussions the two sides agreed to take up matters for collaboration at appropriate level.
Both the sides proposed to cover development of futuristic technologies for defence and internal security to prepare a joint strategy to deal with evolving futuristic threats.
"A joint mission for futuristic innovation between Canada and India can have a direct impact on the economy and society as a whole in both countries," they said.
To give a boost to its international collaborations, a team of experts from DRDO recently visited London and Montreal and signed agreements to jointly developed technologies related to laser processing of material and surface engineering.
