Child labourers belonging to the scheduled tribes will have a minimum of 10 percent reservation in the ashram schools run/aided by Tribal Development ministry of Maharashtra.
Official sources said that all such ashram schools had been directed to find child labourers belonging to scheduled tribes. They will be enrolled in the schools through the child welfare committees.
"It will be mandatory for ashram schools run by the government to enrol the child labourers from scheduled tribes," sources said. There are 553 government-run and 556 aided apasi ashram schools, under the purview of the ministry. Officials said there were enough ashram schools to accommodate new kids.
