Introduction

Indian Institute of Geomagnetism Research Scholarships is granted to those candidates who have enrolled themselves in any research programs at Indian Institute of Geomagnetism which is an autonomous research organization, comes under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India. This institute was established in 1971and was located in Mumbai. This Institute was earlier known as Colaba-Alibag Observatories, a part of Indian Metrological Department.

Indian Institute of Geomagnetism encourages those students who are pursuing their studies and research work in geomagnetism related to the field of upper atmospheric Geomagnetism and solid earth Geomagnetism. This institute has acquired a Status of a Premier Research Organization of India who has adopted various techniques to analysis with fast computers. It also helps in creating a common platform for Scholars and Scientists from every parts of country in exchange of ideas and views.

This Institute is specializing in conducting Doctoral programs in Geomagnetism and other fields related to bulletins and journals. They also arrange workshops and seminars which becomes the effective tools in scientific knowledge.

About Indian Institute of Geomagnetism Research Scholarships

This Scholarship invites an application from Research scholars who are pursuing their Doctoral programs in Geomagnetism and other fields. The candidates who are selected are required to carry their research work in Mumbai or any other center of the institute.

They are granted a scholarship of 12000 per month (consolidated) for the first year, and 14000 in subsequent years second year. Those people who have qualification of net are granted 16000 for first and second year and 18000 in the subsequent year. A grant of 6000 is provided per annum for books in second and subsequent years. An advertisement of this scholarship is published in the employment news every year in the month of April.

Eligibility of Indian Institute of Geomagnetism Research Scholarships

Candidates should be M.Sc,M.Sc (in physics) or Geophysics.
Candidates should have obtained 60%marks throughout the session.
Candidates having Physics as the main subject in B.Sc
Candidates should have the age less than 28 years.

Selection procedure of Indian Institute of Geomagnetism Research Scholarships

Candidates enrolled themselves in any of the research programs of this Institute.
Selection for doctoral program is based on written test along with personal interview held at Mumbai.
Candidates who have cleared the exam of gate, UGC along with the subject code of 2 and 5 will be called directly for interview.
The candidates who are already qualify for the exam must attach the photocopy of the result with the application form.

Application procedure of Indian Institute of Geomagnetism Research Scholarships

Candidates are required to give the full information regarding age, address and academic records mentioning about the 10th standard percentage along with the year of passing and subjects included in that.
It is necessary to attach the attested copies of certificates along with the degress.
The copies of certificates have to reach to the Registrar for publication of advertisement .This process will take at least one month.
A candidate who is applying for an interview or test is provided with second class fare only to outstanding candidates.
