Eligibility for Ambassadorial Scholarships of the Rotary Foundation:
The Senior Fellowships of the
ICSSR are granted to social scientists that are professionals in their
respective fields of study. The other
Eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Must
be a Ph.D degree holder
- Must
have published research papers of proven quality in journals
- Awardees may also be
social workers or journalists or even civil servants who have a proven track
record in the relevant subject and have also published research papers.
- There
is no age limit for the ICSSR Senior Fellowships
- The
research work under the Fellowship is a full time program
- Awardees
may also pursue their research activities outside
India
- Awardees may also be
research scholars from abroad who are interested to carry out research work in
India
in any
branch of social science.
Duration for Ambassadorial Scholarships of the Rotary Foundation:
The Senior Fellowships of the ICSSR
are for a maximum period of 2 years.
How to Apply for Ambassadorial Scholarships of the Rotary Foundation:
Applications for
the Senior Fellowships of the Indian Council of Social Science Research are
called for through notifications in the Economic & Political Weekly (EPW),
University News and the official website of the ICSSR. This normally takes
place during the month of March every year and applications, duly completed,
and should reach the Council by the15th of June.
Value of Scholarships:
- The scholarship is a monthly allowance of Rs.8, 000/- per
month for research scholars who are not in employment or have retired from
normal service.
- In case of research scholars in employment the Fellowship
secures their salary during the period of the Fellowship. The research Fellow will
be eligible for grants and contributory allowances which he was receiving at
the institute from which he has applied for the scholarship
- The Fellowship also provides for a grant of Rs.36, 000/- to
unemployed, retired and employed research scholars during the full tenure of
the grant.
- The grant is given for an initial period of 1 year which
comes into effect from the date of joining
- The grant for the 1st year is given in 3 break-ups with the
3rd installment being 10% of the entire grant for the 1st year.
- The
other two installments are 60% and 40% of the remaining installments
- The third installment is, however, given after
the submission and successful evaluation of the final research report
