Centre asks states to follow MP model for minority scholarship

The Centre has asked states to follow the MPmodel in distributing scholarships to beneficiaries belonging to minority community and also learn from its management of Wakf properties and computerisation of scholarship programme.

"Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a model state in the distribution of scholarships to the beneficiaries of minority community and the Centre has asked other states to follow its model on the issue," the State's Backward Class and Minority Welfare Minister Ajay Vishnoi told reporters.
   
He said that the Centre has asked the states to follow the computerisation programme adopted by the state for offering scholarship to minority students and also management of Wakf properties as well.
   
Vishnoi also informed on the occasion that Saudi Arabia's Government recently praised the state for proper management of Haj Yatra.
   
The Minister said that land for constructing permanent Haj House in Bhopal has been allotted, while in Indore the land has been identified for the purpose.
   
Against the target of distributing 60,000 scholarships, the state has given the same to 81,107 students and this year the government is planning to distribute Rs 25 crore to over one lakh students as scholarship.
   
The state has also decided to institute three state level awards to be given to those engaged in the minority welfare in the name of Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan, Shaheed Hameed Khan and Moulana Abul Kalam Azad carrying a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each.
