As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Societe Generale Global Solution Centre (SGGSC), a subsidiary of the France based Societe Generale Group, announced the third edition of their SGGSC India Talent Scholarship.
Eight students, five of whom are women, were chosen after a rigorous screening process, from around 200 applications, through a face-to- face interview with top SGGSC leadership team. The evaluation process majorly focused on the financial background of the students as well as their social entrepreneurial acumen.
As part of the award, the programme facilitates a focused mentorship programme for the selected students, who are mentored by a member of the leadership team of SGGSC. This enables the students to be coached and counselled by industry leaders to steer through their course with confidence. Apart from this, students are provided full fees and payment of other expenses for the entire duration of the course, an amount collectively totaling to is Rs 1 crore.
Launched in 2010, with the intention to fund higher education for talented students with financial difficulties, the programme has so far provided full scholarship to 28 deserving students. This year’s winners are students at IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Trichy, IIM-Bangalore, IIM- Kozhikode, ISB-Hyderabad and IIIT-Bangalore.
Xavier Lofficial, chief executive officer of SGGSC said, “India is wealthy country in terms of its intellectual capital and we are glad to play a small but definitive role in harnessing and nurturing its talent to take on tomorrow’s competitive world. In that sense this programme has successfully met its objective in supporting deserving students to chart out their future.”
