Huawei, an information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has announced Maitree Scholarship Program 2012, marking the second successful year of its education-based CSR initiative in India.
Open to aspiring Indian students who have already secured admission to institutions of higher education in China, the scholarships aim to build a platform for exchange of ideas between the two nations, fostering a closer understanding of each others' culture and society.
Huawei has 10 scholarships of up to 10,000 USD this year for each of selected students who are pursuing academic courses in China.
The scholarship programme enables aspiring Indian students to opt for various streams, preferably in the emerging areas of science and technology, culture, social studies and development-related programmes in Chinese universities.
The scholarship covers the student's tuition fee and living expenses for the duration of his/her study in China,
Huawei conducts a wide of range of CSR activities in India, including the promotion of education in rural areas through the programme E-Hope, educational programmes for specially-abled children, and higher education and research in the field of information technology.
