Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship for students heading to LMU

London Metropolitan University (LMU), U.K., in conjunction with the Gandhi Smriti, New Delhi, will award the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship for postgraduate students who opt to study in the university. The university has confirmed that they are now open for applications for this prestigious award.

Postgraduate students from any subject are eligible to apply. The scholarship duration is one year and the value is 50 per cent fee waiver. Every year LMU awards Mahatma Gandhi Scholarships for two outstanding Indian students and selection is based on academic performance in India. The recipients must also demonstrate the potential for leadership and social change as exemplified by Mahatma Gandhi.

The scholarships are open to any student who has an unconditional offer for a master's degree starting in January/February 2012 intake. The deadline is November 30. Students have to apply to Delhi Office of LMU by sending a covering letter, a CV, completed questionnaire, a copy of their offer letter and a personal statement outlining why they think that they demonstrate the kind of leadership qualities exemplified by Gandhiji. India Office will shortlist five candidates, who will be asked to come to Gandhi Smriti, New Delhi, for a day for the final selection procedure which will consist of a group discussion with the panel, a six-minute presentation from each candidate, followed by questions.
