The result of All India Engineering Entrance Examination -2011 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education was declared on Sunday. As many as 10,53,832 candidates across the country had taken the exam.
CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi said the average score this year was 41.58, compared to 39.35 last year. “This shows the students have performed better this year. Even the first ranker's score is more than last year,” he added. The results of the students who took the examination online was also announced. “Only about 4,000 students had attempted the exam online this year and we hope to increase the intake next year,” Mr Joshi said.
The students could view their results online, and get their All India and State Rankings with category specifications, the latter being applicable to NIT, Tiruchi. “The preliminary analysis shows that the result in the State is similar to last year's. Very few students from Tamil Nadu have made it to first 100 All India Rankings, but the CBSE students have performed better than last year,” said education analyst, Jayaprakash Gandhi. The State had around 25,000 candidates who took the exam in Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore.
