Eighteen students of two Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in Madurai have achieved top grade of A-1 in the Class X results of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which were declared on Tuesday.
Of the 18 students who got A-1 grade in all subjects, 13 were from the KV-1 at Narimedu and the rest from KV-2 functioning at P.P. Chavadi. Giving the details of KV-1 (Narimedu), Principal V. In the All India Secondary School Examination 2011, the KV-1 registered hundred per cent pass as all the 189 students who had appeared for the Board examinations have passed, he said. The 13 students of KV-1, Narimedu, who scored 10 out of 10 in the Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate this year include nine girls and four boys. They were S. Divya, Elakkia B Krishnan, C. “Our school has achieved 100 per cent pass result for the fourth time and it was possible only due to efforts of teachers, parents and of course the students,” Mr. Rajagopal said.
He informed that the CBSE has this year introduced a new type of grading system with formative/summative assessment marked with a continuous and comprehensive evaluation of Tenth Class students all through the year. The Board examination covered academic performance and scholastic areas giving choices to the Class X students.
Apart from the score in five subjects of English, Hindi/Sanskrit, mathematics, science and social science, the assessment included thinking skills, attitude and values, emotional skills, environment, value system, social skills, yoga, creativity and physical/health education, the Principal said.
