Record CBSE 90% scores in Mumbai

A record number of 90% scorers, girls outperforming boys and a jump in the all-India pass percentage (a high of 81.71%) marked the CBSE class XII results, which were announced on Monday. In Mumbai, too, schools were ecstatic, with high scores in humanities, science and commerce averaging at around 97 per cent.

But while Chennai region – which includes Maharashtra – topped the six CBSE zones in India with 91.32 pass percentage, it was the region’s lowest performance in three years. With 85.45%, Delhi came second, and Ajmer followed with 85.05 per cent. Results for the Patna region are yet to be declared. Of the close to 7 lakh students who took the exam across India, 21, 665 candidates scored 90% and over – a rise of 3.19% since 2010. The all-India pass percentage has risen to 81.71 from 79.87 in 2010.

GOING HIGHER

- 704 students scored over 95% (a rise of 1.15%) and 5, 552 students got over 90% (9.05% jump) in the Chennai region which covers Maharashtra

- At 91.32%, the region had the best pass performance in India. But it was 0.85% lower than the 2010 figure

- Across India, girls outperformed boys with a difference of 9.10 in the pass percentage. Chennai region’s pass percentage among girls at 93.21% is the highest in the nation

Humanities: Neeti Bhatt 96.4%
Commerce: Shreya Bhargava 97.4%
Science: Nasreen Jaleel and Sriram Radhakrishnan with 97.6%
