All the 1,447 candidates of 11 schools in Tiruchy Educational District, whose SSLC marksheets were reported missing on Tuesday, were distributed reprinted statements by the Directorate of School Education here on Wednesday.
According to Chief Educational Officer K Swaminathan, the statements of these candidates went missing while they were transported from the Directorate to Tiruchy.
As soon as he got the information, the CEO passed it on to the Directorate in Chennai. Keeping in mind the future of these candidates, the Directorate reprinted the statements and distributed them. But this time, the Directorate officials carried the statements ‘in person’ to Tiruchy and handed them over to the headmasters of the schools concerned at the office of the CEO.
“Even if the missing certificates are retraced, they would be termed invalid as the latest ones were the officially declared original statements,†Swaminathan said.
Meanwhile, the employment registration of the students would not be affected, he added.
However, the other parcels, which were earlier sent by lorry, reached the districts concerned and the statements were distributed on Monday. But there was no information about the missing certificates till reports came in last.
