The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board ( GSHSEB) will declare the HSC (science) result on Monday. Nearly 1.10 lakh students had appeared for the exam which was taken in four semesters.
The semester system was introduced in June 2011 from class XI. The students appeared for two semester exams in class XI and two exams in class XII. On Monday, the consolidated result of all the four semesters will be declared. Passing marks will be 132 out of 400 in each subject. Students are expecting a good result as they just need 132 marks in any subject to pass. They don't need to score passing marks in each semester.
Board officials said that the percentile rank will be declared. Students who fail to score the passing 132 marks will be marked needs improvement instead of failed. Meanwhile, as the result day draws closer, students and their parents are on tenterhooks as confusion prevails over marks of which entrance test will be used to give admission in medical and paramedical courses.
The admission committee has declared that admission in engineering courses will be given on the basis of merit list prepared on the basis of 50 per cent weight age on Joint Engineering Entrance Exam (JEE) score and 50 per cent marks scored in the board exams. Since the Supreme Court's final verdict on NEET is expected on June 2, the result of GUJCET exam will be withheld. "Earlier, medical admissions were given using 60 per cent marks scored in board exams and 40 percent weight age was on GUJCET score. If NEET is applicable, medical admissions will be given on that score alone", officials said.
