The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) today declared the 2013 results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations but unlike the previous years, this time boys have outshined girls.
St Anthony's Higher Secondary School swept as many as eight positions in the science stream and three in the commerce stream while St Edmund's College (Higher Secondary Section) came close as it also got two positions in the science and five in commerce stream.
In percentage wise, the vocational stream bagged the highest with 100 per cent pass percentage followed by the science stream which stood at 73.29 per cent and commerce stream with only 69.24 per cent.
All the eight candidates appeared in the vocational streams cleared their exams securing in the first position.
However, out of 3238 candidates appeared in the science stream, a total of 2373 (with males-1199 and females-1174) have been declared successful.
Similarly, in the commerce stream, of 2458 candidates, 1702 (males-990 and females-712) successfully cleared their exams.
Notably, the first ten positions in order of merit, the first and second positions were bagged by Prityush Haldar and Jestesh Sharma from St Anthony's Higher Secondary School, Shillong followed by Prashant Shah and Pragyaditya Das of St Edmund's College (Higher Secondary Section), Shillong in the third and fourth positions respectively.
Meanwhile, the district-wise pass percentage across the eleven districts of Meghalaya, East Khasi hills district stood with highest percentage in both Science and Commerce stream at 70 per cent and 79 per cent respectively followed by West Garo hills with 12 per cent and 8 per cent.
