IIMs introduced some changes in 2011 to attract more people from non-science streams. Though engineers continue to dominate the test, experts say that the changes will be apparent during the overall selection process. "This will come to the fore when they will shortlist candidates for group discussion, interviews and later in the final selections. That's where they have given weightage to academic performance, work experience and gender," said Deekshant Sahrawat, an alumnus of IIM-Kolkata and IIT-Delhi, who runs MBA Guru.
The IIMs are also focusing on gender diversities and there are more chances of girl candidates to make it one of the 13 IIMs than ever before.
"IIM Kozhikode initiated 35% recruitment for women in a batch and it has become a national trend now for most IIM ," said director of IIM-Kozhikode, Debashis Chatterjee.
