Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) secretary UC Das has said that the results of the state-conducted higher secondary Class XII exams are likely to be declared in the last week of May.
He said: "This year onwards, we have introduced the NCERT syllabus and the students have fared pretty well. The results will probably be declared in the last week of May. It's not fixed as yet, but we don't want to delay it much. Last year, the results were declared on May 23."
He also said around 2,19,140 candidates have appeared the examination this year, with 2,17,953 students from arts, science and commerce and 1,187 from the vocational stream.
"The NCERT course allows for high scores and we hope the students would do well. But we are taking a bit of time as we don't want to take any chances or make any mistakes. There hasn't been any mistake in the results from our end so far," Das said.
The pass percentage of last year's result were 73.14% in arts, 87.32% in science, 79.81% in commerce and 80.17% in vocational stream. But it is expected that this year, the scores would improve as the course has changed.
