Almost 40 per cent of students of Anna University’s three constituent colleges did not clear their semester exams last year, revealed vice-chancellor Prof Mannar Jawahar here on Friday.
Responding to a question during a press conference organised on the sidelines of Kurukshetra, a techno management festival of the College of Engineering, Guindy, the vice chancellor said only 62 per cent of the students studying in the university’s constituent colleges had cleared the examination last year. “We’ll have to wait and see what the results are this year,” he added.
Prof Jawahar also revealed that an international agency had selected the university to develop a 10-kg nano satellite. “Fifty universities across the world have been selected for developing the satellite, but I cannot disclose the name of the agency as yet ,” he added, disclosing that the university also had an order from the Indian Space Research Organisation to develop a similar nano-satellite.
Dean of the College of Engineering, Guindy, Prof M. Sekar, said Kurukshetra was the first ever student festival to enjoy UNESCO patronage. “Kurukshetra has had over 20,000 participants from more than 800 institutions from 80 countries in its every edition,” he said.
