Charles University in Prague is inviting students from India to take up its medical programmes.
The medium of instruction is English and the duration of the general medicine programme is six years. The dentistry course is of five years. The programmes start in September. Candidates should have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, biology and English.
Raju J. Anthraper, chief advisor of Caxton, authorised representative of the university in India, says the general medicine course in basic theoretical disciplines is organised into four terms during the first two years.
After the second year, students will have to practise at the university hospital for a week. The third and fourth years cover preclinical disciplines, such as pathological anatomy, patho-physiology, microbiology, immunology and pharmacology. After the fourth year, students need to practise at the university hospital for four weeks.
In the fifth year, clinical disciplines are taught exclusively. The sixth (final) year is organised in the university hospital as a ‘unique bedside practice’ in internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, preventive medicine and hygiene. The curriculum of the five-year dentistry course is based on the needs of the modern dental professional with respect to the requirements of the European Educational Standards. The university’s postgraduate course is available for almost all subjects of medicine.
