The open-day event, ‘Overseas Education — An Eye Opener’, organised recently in Chennai, truly lived up to its name. Students and researchers aspiring to study abroad had a unique opportunity to interact and get valuable information from the representatives from France, Netherlands, USA and Germany, about studying and researching in the respective countries. It was jointly organised by USIEF, Campus France, NESO Desk, and DAAD.
Srilakshmi Ramakrishanan of USIEF, said, “We thought that an official representative from destination countries would help prospective students to get first-hand information directly from the consular office, and therefore we competitors have come together to organise such an event.” Tina Joseph Jacob of Campus France, said,“A package such as this is immensely beneficial to the students. Each of the participating countries has its own USP and advantages, and this helps students in making a decision.”
Padmavathi Chandramouli of DAAD, said, Germany now has new immigration rules that welcome foreign students to stay longer, and all information pertaining to that has reached the student community through this collaborative event.
Not many students are aware that they have to submit all their documents to the Campus France office for an academic interview prior to applying for visa. This is something unique to France, says Ms. Jacob.
